Billionaire investments, new agreements and cooperation in renewable energy mark the Brazil-India Economic Forum in Rio de Janeiro.<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The relationship between Brazil and India gained new momentum during the Brazil-India Economic Forum<\/a>, which took place on July 7, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro. Organized by ApexBrasil<\/a>, the event brought together authorities, businesspeople and investors to consolidate a partnership that goes far beyond trade: it is a strategic alliance between two of the world’s largest emerging economies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The president of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, highlighted that Brazil has become one of the world’s main destinations for foreign investment. Demonstrating the commitment of both nations to deepening ties, the Forum served as the stage for the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The first, with the India-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (CCIB)<\/a>, aims to enhance trade cooperation and attract investment. The second, signed with the company Nidec-Embraco, formalizes an investment of over USD 120 million for the construction of a compressor manufacturing plant in India.<\/p>\n

Rising exports, Opportunities in agribusiness and renewable energy<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Brazilian exports to India have grown by an average of 13.7% per year since 2019, reaching USD 5.3 billion in 2024. Products such as sugar, oil, cotton and vegetable oils<\/strong> lead the export portfolio, but diversification is already underway.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One notable highlight is the oilseed group, which has seen growth of over 1,400%, thanks to the opening of the Indian market to Brazilian sesame. Additionally, more than 380 trade opportunities have been mapped by ApexBrasil<\/strong>, with emphasis on fuels, pulp, machinery and equipment sectors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In terms of investments<\/strong>, India already ranks among the six largest Asian investors in Brazil, with a stock of USD 2.9 billion. Investments have been growing particularly in the energy, technology and pharmaceutical sectors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This energy synergy is essential for building a low-carbon economy \u2014 one of the top priorities of the upcoming climate conference, which will be held in Bel\u00e9m, Par\u00e1 (Brazil), later this year.<\/p>\n
