On Monday (August 18), during the Infrastructure Forum promoted by Veja magazine in S\u00e3o Paulo, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, announced that port concessions alone, granted by the federal government between 2023 and 2026, will total <strong>R$ 30 billion in investments.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In all, more than <strong>60 auctions<\/strong> will be held for ports, airports, highways, railways and waterways, consolidating the country as a strategic destination for both domestic and international investors.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, the minister highlighted Brazil\u2019s favorable momentum and the achievements of the past year:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>\u201cIn 2024, we had the best year for concessions in Brazil\u2019s history. Concessions in ports, airports, highways, railways, waterways and intermodal facilities, along with numerous state government projects, amount to over R$ 200 billion in contracted investments in Brazil. These initiatives have generated significant social benefits and employment opportunities across the country<\/strong><\/span><strong style=\"color: #008080;\">.\u201d \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>Silvio Costa Filho &#8211; Minister of Ports and Airports of Brazil<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Port concessions: driving logistical modernization<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The port sector leads this investment cycle with strategic projects, including the following auctions:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2681\" data-end=\"3286\">\n<li data-start=\"2681\" data-end=\"2978\">\n<p data-start=\"2683\" data-end=\"2978\"><strong data-start=\"2683\" data-end=\"2709\">Santos-Guaruj\u00e1 Tunnel:<\/strong> in September, an auction will define the companies responsible for building and operating the tunnel between Santos and Guaruj\u00e1. Joint initiative between the federal government and the State of S\u00e3o Paulo, the project involves more than R$ 6 billion in investments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2979\" data-end=\"3132\">\n<p data-start=\"2981\" data-end=\"3132\"><strong data-start=\"2981\" data-end=\"3001\">Tecon Santos 10:<\/strong> this container terminal will expand the operational capacity of the Port of Santos by 50%, with R$ 5.6 billion in investments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3133\" data-end=\"3286\">\n<p data-start=\"3135\" data-end=\"3286\"><strong data-start=\"3135\" data-end=\"3163\">Paranagu\u00e1 Port Dredging:<\/strong> the first concession of its kind in Brazil, with R$ 1 billion in investments, will serve as a model for the Santos channel.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Waterways: sustainable transport attracting investors<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Brazil will also advance with the concession of the Paraguay Waterway, the first of its kind in the country. With <strong>more than 60,000 kilometers of navigable waterways<\/strong>, Brazil has the potential to cut logistics costs by up to 40%, increase transport efficiency and contribute to decarbonization. \u201cThese sustainable projects are drawing significant interest from investors in Asia, Europe and Latin America,\u201d the minister stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Other projects under study include the Madeira, Lagoa Mirim, Tocantins and Tapaj\u00f3s waterways, all integrated into the <strong>BR do Mar program<\/strong>, which promotes <strong>cabotage<\/strong> in freight transport between national ports. \u201cThe idea is to transform Brazil\u2019s 8,000 kilometers of coastline into major highways, boosting cabotage and coastal cargo transport,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Airports: historic growth and regional inclusion<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Brazil\u2019s air sector is experiencing a sharp rise in passenger numbers and is set to begin a new cycle of investments in terminal modernization and expansion of the air network. Highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>AmpliAR:<\/strong> R$ 1.25 billion allocated to modernize 19 airports in the Legal Amazon and Northeast regions, strengthening regional aviation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Investe + Aeroportos:<\/strong>\u00a0 R$ 4.5 billion dedicated to projects aimed at boosting logistics efficiency and airport operational capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Conclusion: logistics investments set to transform Brazil<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Brazil\u2019s development agenda is a federal government priority and is set out in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/transportes\/pt-br\/assuntos\/PIT\/politica-e-planejamento\/publicacoes\/pnl2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Logistics Plan (PNL)<\/a>, with goals through 2035.
