She is also the <a href=\"https:\/\/g1.globo.com\/rj\/rio-de-janeiro\/noticia\/2025\/11\/07\/ana-maria-goncalves-toma-posse-na-abl.ghtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first Black woman to hold a seat at the Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL).<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"577\" data-end=\"649\">Marcos Freitas, president of the Brazilian Academy of Letters (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.academiadeletrasdobrasil.com.br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Academia de Letras do Brasil<\/a> &#8211; ALB) and co-chair of the BRICS Literature Network in Brazil, highlighted the importance of the initiative for Brazilian authors:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px;\" data-start=\"577\" data-end=\"649\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>\u201cThe creation of the BRICS Literature Prize is an extraordinary milestone for our writers and readers.
