Brazil mission to Southeast Asia strengthens trade and investment
21 de October de 2025Simone Tebet and Alexandre Padilha lead delegation to discuss Pacific route and smart hospital project.
From October 13 to 17, Brazil is carrying out an official mission to China to discuss strategic investments and Pacific integration. The delegation is led by the Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, and the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha.
During the visit, Brazil will address strategic projects such as the Bi-oceanic Route, which connects Brazil to the Port of Chancay (Peru) and offers a faster, more economical and more sustainable route for exports to the Port of Shanghai.
The mission also includes meetings with business representatives and investors to strengthen trade, infrastructure and technological cooperation.
The Bi-oceanic Route
The Port of Shanghai, operated by the Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), maintains connections with more than 700 ports in 200 countries and serves as a strategic point of the Bi-oceanic Route, which links Brazil to the Port of Chancay (Peru) and the Asian continent.
A faster and greener route
The route provides a faster, more economical and more sustainable alternative compared with traditional passages such as the Cape of Good Hope, Strait of Magellan, Panama Canal and Suez Canal.
Stretching 17,230 km, the route reduces navigation time to 27 days, cost per tonne to US$80 and CO₂ emissions to 1.45 kg per tonne. Besides avoiding the high tolls of Suez and Panama, it promotes greater logistic efficiency through the integration of road and rail transport.
Inteligent Hospital
The Brazilian mission to China also includes a visit to Zhejiang Hospital, which serves as a model for Brazil’s First Smart Hospital — a federal government project approved by COFIEX (Commission of External Financing) and developed in partnership with the NDB (New Development Bank/BRICS Bank) with a total investment of US$320 million.
The initiative aims to establish a scalable and replicable national model integrating infrastructure technology and professional training.
Strategic cooperation
The mission reinforces the strategic partnership between Brazil and China focusing on logistic modernization, technological innovation and sustainable development, while expanding opportunities for bilateral investment and long-term collaboration.
